Friends of Woodfield PTA (FOW PTFA)
What are the Friends of Woodfield?
Our Friends of Woodfield are a small group of parents/carers and grandparents that regularly help with various school social events, such as Summer/Christmas fairs and the school discos, whenever, and wherever they can.
What do the Friends of Woodfield do?
Our FOW help to raise money for the school by offering to assist with things like serving sweets and drinks or help with signing children in and out at the discos. We also have support from our FOW in getting raffle prizes from various local and city companies and businesses to raffle off at our fairs. FOW have also supported classes such as year 6 in making cakes etc and helped to raised money for end of term events.
Other areas of support have seen FOW get our Christmas grotto ready and even take the part of our Christmas Elves to help Santa Claus. FOW have also made items/gifts for our stalls at the fair to sell and often we have small outside businesses wanting to sell their own products. We welcome this, to help raise funds.
Can anybody join Friends of Woodfield and how do I do this?
If you have a child at our school we would very much encourage you to join our FOW and we look to promote this through our meet up sessions. These meetings are very informal and there is no pressure to feel you have to join, we wouldn’t want to put you off.
I would like to help but can’t offer help all the time.
We realise that many of our parents/carers and grandparents have very busy lives and where we would like to have regular help all the time we appreciate this is not always possible. Whatever time you can offer is great for us and really supports our school.
Why have a FOW or PTFA?
Our FOW work very hard to raise money to provide that little extra for our pupils. They are currently raising money towards a new school bike shelter which we hope to have built soon. You may have ideas that you would like to put forward, which the FOW would be glad to hear about.
Who should I speak to if I want to help and join FOW?
You can speak to our Parent Support Adviser – Hayley, to the members of the FOW or to the school. We would love to have you on board.
